Recent coverage seen from Khartoum showed a flag flying at the Sudanese
Defence Ministry. This is a horizontal tricolour of black white and black and
was described as the flag of the Sudanese Armed Forces.
Jason Saber, 27 March 2015
A flag of black-white-black was used as the flag of Sudan Defense Force
between 1925-1956 bearing a golden emblem in the centre. I believe
that this later remained as the Headquarters flag of the Armed Forces.

Nozomi Kariyasu has reported similar flag from a Chinese flag book, but with the
flag bearing two crossed golden swords in the center and with an Arabic
inscription in the upper stripe. This was labeled as a war flag, while
Armed Forces flag was the current national flag with golden national emblem in
the center and with an Arabic inscription of the shahada in the upper stripe.

Some years ago Jose Luis Cepero spent some time in Sudan. On TV he saw a flag that is white with the (current) national flag in canton.

Since pre-1969
war ensign was in of the same pattern, I assume that Sudanese Navy used after 1969
is also a white ensign with the new national flag in the canton - but this needs
to be confirmed.
